Buddy - Border Collie Dog

Buddy was brought to us by a good Samaritan who had been caring for him for months after he was left behind by his owners. It took a long time for him to gain his trust and he was finally able to bring him in to us to find his new forever home. Buddy can be nervous of new people, and will require an experienced guardian who can introduce him slowly to new people using positive reinforcement. He gets uncomfortable around large crowds of people and does best one on one with his human! He is extremely affectionate once he trusts you and loves to snuggle and get pets. He is best suited to an adult only home. Buddy is extremely smart and active, and would be a great sport dog - he is very food motivated and we know he will pick up on training extremely quick. Buddy knows basic commands such as heel, sit and down, seems to be house trained, is quiet in his kennel and is great to walk on leash. We are still learning how he feels about 4-legged friends, but is probably best suited to a cat and livestock free home as he has shown some herding behaviours which could get him into mischief. An active home is a must, as border collies have a very busy brain and need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation to be kept happy.
